IOT & Greentech

IoT : boosting the Greentech

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a powerful technology that has the potential to revolutionize the way we approach energy efficiency, sustainability and green technology. By connecting a wide range of devices and sensors to the internet, IoT enables the collection and analysis of real-time data that can help optimize resource usage, reduce waste, and minimize environmental impact.

One of the main ways in which IoT can help green technology is through the creation of smart grids. IOT connects to the internet all energy sources and production points and all the energy delivery points creating a smart power grid. This can help ensure that energy is generated and distributed efficiently, reducing waste and minimizing the reliance on fossil fuels by promoting renewable energy sources.

IoT can also play a critical role in the optimization of precious resource usage like water. By installing IoT sensors from the source to the consumption points, all along the distribution network, we can monitor all water flow in real-time as well as temperature, humidity, weather. This data can then be used to optimize irrigation and fertilization, reduce water waste. Similarly, IoT can be used to optimize waste management by enabling the monitoring and analysis of waste levels, reducing unnecessary pickups, and improving recycling efforts.

Another key area where IoT can help green technology is in the creation of smart homes and buildings. By connecting devices such as thermostats, lighting, and appliances to the internet, IoT can enable the creation of more efficient and sustainable living and working spaces. For example, smart thermostats can learn occupants’ behavior and preferences and adjust heating and cooling accordingly, reducing energy waste and costs.

In conclusion, the Internet of Things can be a powerful tool in the fight against climate change and the pursuit of sustainability. By enabling real-time data collection and analysis, IoT can help optimize resource usage, reduce waste, and minimize environmental impact in a wide range of applications, from energy generation to agriculture to building management.

A comprehensive approach is essential

There is no planet B

There is no planet B

Awareness of the climate emergency is accelerated by the clear observation of climate disruptions which no longer affect only a few minorities but everyone without exception. It is also clear that there is no turning back and that everyone’s civic engagement is required, and perhaps above all the engagement of businesses. These must become major players in the new deal to reconcile economic activity and respect for the environment, which markets a solution aimed explicitly at preventing, reducing or measuring the damage of human activities on the environment. Greentech players like SILENO are there to offer environmental solutions and services enabling companies to fulfill their social responsibilities of energy saving and respect for the environment to move towards a virtuous circle to save our planet.

Interactions between Energies and Environment

Interactions between Energies and Environment

What are the parameters that influence my energy consumption? For this, the IoT is a major asset of the Greentech family. IoT sensors make it possible to collect a number of  information such as, for example, high density humidity sensors in the field of agriculture to optimize irrigation, air quality sensors in buildings to optimize ventilation as precisely as possible, thus avoiding unnecessary overconsumption by improving the comfort of the place for its occupants and many other examples could be cited.
This new possibility of abundance of measurements makes it possible to study the correlations between totally heterogeneous data and from totally different sources: weather, air and indoor/outdoor ambient sensors, outdoor/indoor luminosity, room occupancy, various sources pollution (air, water, noise, etc.) or any type of production data for industrial sites and link them to energy consumption in any form.
e3m, SILENO’s EMS (Energy Management Solution) has been natively designed and deployed for more than 25 years to meet these specifications, particularly in its capacity to process massive and heterogeneous data.

No information, No decision

No information, No decision

No decision can be done withour information !
Developing Greentech solutions can actually only be done with the integration of IOT solutions because IOT solutions are the only possibilities to collect as much information while remaining within bearable investments. The gains that can be expected from a good EMS system are at least 15% but can go up to 50% even beyond depending on the installations, the sectors of activity, the energy sources used (source http://www.eia.gov/).
But it must be emphasized that the approach must be global, multi-technical, multi-source, multi-function. A decision taken on a partial analysis limited to a single source of data or on only one consumption and without correlation will lead to decisions being taken that will not have the expected effectiveness.
SILENO e3m integrates data from existing meters and automation (Modus, BACNet, OPC, etc., among more than a hundred protocols available) as well as data from command and control computer systems (SCADA supervision, GTC, BMS, etc.). ) as accounting information (invoices, contracts, subscriptions… third-party SQL database or other) to allow all types of correlations and automation of the energy processing chain of its distribution, consumption, invoicing.

With or without internet...

No internet??? e3m-Box: a solution for unconnected sites or weak/unstable connectivity
The e3m platform can be a pure cloud solution or an on-premises solution without an internet connection. But SILENO goes much further with a complete range of e3m boxes to be used as local independent acquisition systems and as resilient Internet gateways.

Node-Red integration
Node-Red integration

Purpose-built for the Internet of Things (IOT), Node-RED is a programming tool for connecting hardware devices, APIs, and online services in new and exciting ways. With a browser-based editor, Node-RED makes it very easy and graphical to connect data streams by technicians with just a few clicks. Node-RED is natively integrated into SILENO's e3m platform

Professional solution to deal with any type of situation

And when nothing works or the facilities do not allow connection, e3m has a mobile application on smartphone or tablet that allows users to make manual readings with temporary storage to dump the information to e3m.
