How Big Data is Revolutionizing Operations
BIG DATA or massive data… here is the definition according to the CNIL in France: We have been talking for a few years about the phenomenon of big data, which is often translated as “massive data”. With the development of new technologies, the Internet and social networks over the past twenty years, the production of digital data has been increasingly numerous: texts, photos, videos, etc. The gigantic volume of digital data produced combined with ever-increasing storage capacities and increasingly sophisticated real-time analysis tools now offers unrivaled possibilities for exploiting information. The data sets processed corresponding to the definition of big data respond to three main characteristics: volume, velocity and variety.
This phenomenon is all the more increased and important when we take into account the IOT which has the highest growth rate with between 20 and 30% more connected devices every year, i.e. a forecast by 2050, of more than 24 billion interconnected devices, that is to say almost all the objects that surround us today and those yet to come (source www.ericsson.com).
